Tennis Dress Code

  • Proper court shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes must have a flat surface without deep treads, and be non-scuffing.

  • No cut-off shirts or shorts

  • No jeans

  • No obscene language on clothing

  • Shirts must be worn at all times.

Tennis Etiquette

Tennis is a social game involving simple politeness and consideration. Everyone will enjoy the game so much more if the unwritten laws regarding tennis etiquette are maintained.

  • Players needing to cross another court while play is in progress shall wait until a game point is over and then cross behind the base line quickly.

  • Avoid distracting or interfering with players while a match is in progress.

  • When sending balls back to a neighboring court, roll them on to the back of the court. Never send them back while play is in progress.

  • Call your own lines and let your opponent hear the call.  Always respect the line calls of your opponent. If there is a disagreement, offer a let.

General Guidelines -

  • Inform us of any changes in information  (name, address, phone number, e-mail address).

  • Check-in with the receptionist upon arrival

  • Pay court fees prior to playing.

  • Sweep the court after playing to help maintain the playing surface.  Sweepers are provided at each court.

Once a court has been reserved, members will be charged the applicable court fee for late cancellations and “no-shows”

4 Har-Tru (Green Clay) Courts

  • Provides a slower ball bounce than other surfaces, resulting in longer rallies, a greater variety of strokes and a more controlled game

  • This surface acts as a shock-absorbing cushion, thus preventing joint jarring stops

  • Avid players find that Har-Tru courts allow them to play the game every day without soreness or pain

This is a great surface for players of all ages and levels

Our Outdoor Courts - available from April 1st to October 31st

Members play free on our outdoor courts.  A Hitting Wall is also available

4 Red Clay Courts

  • Very similar to the green clay courts, the unique surface allows you to play more often with less soreness and pain

These courts are similar to the ones at the French Open

4 Hard Courts

  • Rosedale's hard courts were resurfaced in 2009

  • These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court and the ball tends to bounce high

It is the predominant surface type used on the professional tour

Frequently Asked Questions . . .

Can I still play if i am not a member?

Guest and Visitors to the club are more than welcome but are required to pay a guest fee.

See the 'Memberships and Fees' button for more information.

What are my payment options?

We accept payment by cheque, VISA, Mastercard, Debit or Cash.  Payment can be made either in person or through our Rosedale Tennis Club 'Online Booking' menu portal.

Does the club have a dress code?

Yes we do.  Tennis shoes with a flat sole, without deep treads and must be non-scuffing.  Appropriate athletic wear is required and shirts must be worn at all times.  Check the 'Tennis Dress Code' section for more details.

Do the courts need to be reserved before playing?

Although we do sometimes have players 'drop in' to play without a reservation, we strongly recommend that courts and playing time be booked in advance (either in person, by calling our staff or using our Rosedale Tennis Club Online Booking portal.  Courts can be reserved for 60 minutes or 120 minutes per reservation.  Court times may be extended depending on availability.

In the Summer season (Apr 1st to Oct 31st) the outdoor courts are also available and there is a better chance of securing a last minute booking.  Please note - there are times that even these courts become fully booked.

Can I cancel a previous court reservation?

We ask that you provide 24hrs (minimum) notice when cancelling a reservation.  if you cancel the booking with less than the requested 24hrs notice or fail to show up at the reservation time, and we cannot rebook the court, you will be charged the court fee.  You do have the option of finding a replacement player to avoid being charged.

If the weather is bad and I can't make it down to the club to play, will I still be charged the court fee?

Unfortunately, everyone has a varying opinion regarding weather conditions.  We recomment you contact the Club for an update on current court playability and/or closures.  In severe weather the club would be closed and no court fees would be charged.

Would you help me find a playing partner?

Most certainly!  We recommend that new members take one lesson with our head pro in order to be 'rated'.  He can provide you with information as to which members would be best suited for you to play.  You can also check our Club News - Bulletin Board or the 'Online Booking > Find a Partner which will provide you with information on members looking for matches.  You can contact these members to directly to arrange a match.  You will find our members very friendly and eager to play!

Are the club facilities available for special events?

Yes!  Our receptionists ould be more than happy to descuss rental fees with you.  We have hosted card parties, birthday parties and special events and tournaments.

Can I book a lesson with one of your Coaches?

There are two ways to schedule private/semi-private lessons with one of our coaching staff.

1. Click on the Coaches menu tab, select a coach then contact them directly via their email link.

2. Using the on-line booking menu option you can select “Book a  Pro” as your opponent.   Select a coach fro the drop down list and complete the process.
